BET Networks presents BET HONORS, a star studded unforgettable night celebrating distinguished Urban Americans performing at exceptional levels in the areas of music, literature, entertainment, media, service and education.

Hosted by acclaimed actress Gabrielle Union, this year’s show recognizes the savvy business acumen of music executive and entrepreneur Clarence Avant, known to many as the “Godfather of Black Music,” the humanitarian work and philanthropic efforts of Academy Award winning actress Halle Berry, the influential leadership, humanitarian and educational reach of T.D. Jakes, the invaluable contributions of ten-time GRAMMY award winner and international music icon Chaka Khan; who will be celebrating 40 years in music and entertainment, and the athletic agility and dynamism of three time WNBA MVP and four-time Olympic gold winner Lisa Leslie.

BET HONORS will tape at the historic Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, January 12, 2013 and will premiere on February 11th, 2013 at 9:00 pm* on BET Networks.

BET HONORS has become a staple in BET history by celebrating extraordinary Urban Americans including Cicely Tyson, Jamie Foxx, Iman, Herbie Hancock, Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah, Sean “Diddy” Combs; along with memorable past performances by Trey Songz, Ne-Yo, Yolanda Adams, Keyshia Cole, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Before saying “Bye Baby” to 2012, Centric is giving viewers a “Refill” of some of the hottest R&B and Hip-Hop music of 2012 as the network announced today, The Hot 50. The four-part, year-end special features artists such as, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Usher and Miguel and will kick off on Wednesday, December 26th at 8:00AM ET.

The Hot 50 will be hosted by Centric’s entertainment correspondent, Jasmine Sanders. Teamed up with Jasmine will be a few of entertainments leading media experts – Cori Murphy, Entertainment Director, Essence Magazine;  Nicole Spence, Celebrity Editor, Global Grind; Ed Love, TV Personality, Comedian and Radio Personality, SiriusXM’s Backspin; Sean Lynch, Assistant Editor, The Source and Jermaine Hall, Editor-in-Chief, Vibe – who will appear throughout the countdown special adding their commentary.

SAMUEL L. JACKSON (The Highest Grossing Movie Actor Of All Time) SET TO HOST ‘BET AWARDS 2012

Kanye West Leads the Pack with 7 Nominations, Beyoncé with 6 Nominations and Jay-Z with 5 Nominations

Samuel L. Jackson (declared the highest grossing movie actor of all time according to the Guinness Book of World Records), will be this year’s BET Awards host.

In addition, the members of Maze featuring Frankie Beverly were announced to be the prestigious recipients of the ‘Cadillac Lifetime Achievement Award;’ and Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj were revealed as the first confirmed performers.

BET’s NYC studios announced the nominees for the BET Awards 2012; Mindless Behavior, Big Sean, Melanie Fiona, DJ Khaled, Astro, A$AP Rocky and Diggy, along with the Cadillac Lifetime Achievement Award honorees Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.
